Do I need to beg for forgiveness?

Well this week’s trip to the grocery store(s) wasn’t half bad. I certainly didn’t feel like “life as I knew it” was ending right then and there. Heck, I can’t say that I am NOT liking The Grocery Game at this point. I have shared it with 2 people I love and care about. I told my older sister about it yesterday on the phone. *waving* Hi, Ann!

I need to get better at taking pictures of things as they com in the door. This week I got pictures after everything was put away. Next week hopefully I’ll have more time to get pictures of the individual stores again.

I’m motivated enough that I cleaned off the 2 shelves in the laundry room. Well, not so much cleaned them off as reorganized them to make things fit. I’ll need the space over the next few weeks I am sure.

I am enjoying the fact that I can walk to the pantry and not feel like it is empty. I don’t even get the feeling at the end of the week. I don’t feel that I absolutely must go to the store because we’re not going to survive without me going. It feels a lot better knowing that the kids still have cereal at the end of the week. I am certainly not going to last 12 full weeks on anything I have. Well, I might have enough general purpose cleaners. Oh, wait, I have a family of boys. . . one can never have enough general purpose cleaning products.

I am looking at my list of needs this week. These are the absolute must haves this week. So far on my list I have:

  • Garbage Bags – I haven’t seen these on the list yet
  • Cereal Bars – Lance’s day is made by these, he prefers the Quaker Bars but he ate the last one this morning
  • Cheese Sticks – We burn through these like you would not believe, I buy a variety but I need them to hit a rock bottom price so I can justify buying 10 packages of them at one time.
  • Grape Jelly – I prefer the HEB More Fruit stuff as it doesn’t have High Fructose Corn Syrup in it and the kids like it. I know it is $1.99 a jar but I know I can get other stuff much cheaper.
  • Milk – We always need milk, we’re down to 4 left in the extra fridge. I imagine that will be gone sometime Monday morning.

That’s all I can think of right now, but I am sure that my list will get longer as we get close to Monday again.

Anyway, the best part of all this is that my freezer isn’t just holding frozen water. There is actually stuff in there to eat! *happy dance* There is meat, meat, and more meat. Monday I picked up a 2.5# middle cut brisket. I have 2 more meals of boneless, skinless chicken breasts and 1-2 meals of boneless, skinless chicken tenders. I have beef stew meat, though I think I need some more of that for the recipe I have. Hot Italian Sausage links (6 links). Flat iron flank steaks (I’m thinking fajitas). Two packages of all-ready-to-cook beef fajita meat. That was added to the stuff that was already in the freezer. I’m going to have to go back into the freezer and restack everything and organize it so like meats are together. It will make it easier to see what is in there.

At the end of the day. . . I was only $0.78 over the weekly alloted budget! *grin* So do I really need to beg for forgiveness? I haven’t been that “little” over in several weeks. Of course, I am sitting here looking at the bag of pull-ups and thinking “I might need to go get some before Monday.” Oh well, such is life.
